Biography —
Dr. Kamatuka is the Assistant Dean for DEIB, School of Education & Human Sciences, and Director of the University of Kansas Achievement & Assessment Institute’s Center for Educational Opportunity Programs. He has served the University of Kansas in a multitude of positions, including as an interim director for the Institute for Educational Research and Public Service. Dr. Kamatuka holds a Ph.D. and Msc., in higher education from the University of Kansas and a B.A. in education from Tabor College. He has taught in the School of Education for 15 years. He has served as president of the Mid-America Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (MAEOPP) and has also served as the Chair of the Council for Opportunity In Education Board of Directors. He served as the Advisor to the University of Liverpool European Commission’s funded grant of Science in Society Catalyst for Kinder Universitat Wien, Comenius University in Bratislava, ZOOM Children’s Museum in Austria, and the University of Tubingen. He is the recipient of several awards and honors, including the University of Kansas Unclassified Employee of the Year, the University of Kansas School of Education Achievement Award for Professional Staff, the University of Kansas Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa Outstanding Educator, and the Council for Opportunity in Education’s Walter O. Mason Award.
