My scholarly work focuses on psychology, social and clinical research, and applied interventions that enhance individual and community well-being in African contexts. I am committed to producing research that is both academically rigorous and socially relevant, bridging the gap between theory and practice. My work integrates African-centered frameworks, cross-cultural psychology concepts, and culturally responsive methodologies to address pressing social and psychological challenges.
A primary focus of my research is African sexuality, examining sexual behaviors, identities, and relational dynamics through culturally grounded lenses. I explore how social norms, gender dynamics, and historical legacies shape sexual attitudes and health outcomes, producing insights that inform health interventions, education, and policy. Complementing this work, I investigate neuropsychological function among atypical populations, including individuals with developmental, cognitive, and mental health variations, with an emphasis on culturally sensitive assessment and intervention strategies.
I am also deeply engaged in research on masculinity and gendered socialization, exploring how cultural constructs of masculinity influence mental health, and social behavior. This work draws on cross-cultural psychology to understand the interplay between societal norms and psychological processes across Africa contexts.
In addition to research, I focus on applied education and professional training, translating theory into practical strategies. I have developed programs/modules on emotional care for the elderly, resilience and emotional intelligence training sessions for military personnel, and skills development for caregivers and logistics professionals. These initiatives reflect my commitment to knowledge mobilization and collaborative, contextually grounded solutions.
Finally, I advocate for the decolonization and democratization of psychological research. I aim to promote African-centered methodologies, inclusive frameworks, and ethical practices that amplify marginalized voices and produce socially responsive scholarship.
At KASC, I seek to collaborate with scholars who share a commitment to African-centered, interdisciplinary research. I aim to contribute my expertise in African sexuality, neuropsychological assessment research, masculinity, and cross-cultural psychology to support KASC’s mission of fostering scholarly dialogue, research excellence, and knowledge dissemination that advances the African continent. By aligning my research with KASC’s initiatives, I strive to strengthen a scholarly community that prioritizes intellectual rigor, cultural relevance, and societal impact.
